What is hazing and does Zeta Delta Tau haze?
”Hazing” is a term to describe the imposition of strenuous, often humiliating, tasks as part of a program of rigorous physical training and initiation. Hazing is usually performed by sororities or fraternities during a period of time between rushing and sisterhood called “pledging”. Hazing can come in many forms, but is basically anything that could be considered humiliating or degrading. Zeta Delta Tau and SUNY Delhi have strict no hazing policies to ensure the safety and comfort of our potential new members.
How much does it cost?
As you make the transition into being a sister, and during the time of new member education, Zeta Delta Tau requires members to pay a once a semester fee of $75 for sorority dues. The sisters of Zeta Delta Tau realize that we are college students, and sometimes money is tight, so we offer payment plans for members. Because of COVID-19, our semester dues have been lowered to $35 a semester.
Will it conflict with my schedule?
The simple answer to this question is yes. But, if you are worried about class time, or other clubs/sports conflicting with sorority events, sisters are always very understanding, and will work with you and your schedule to ensure that you will be able to make the most out of your experience with Zeta Delta Tau. We have many sisters who are and have been involved with and in leadership positions of other clubs, who were still able to attend events and make time for school work and their sisters. Time management is key for sisters of Zeta Delta Tau, and we take pride in all of the things we do.
Will it affect my school work?
Zeta Delta Tau has one of the highest cumulative GPAs out of all of the greek organizations on Delhi’s campus. We take pride in our academic excellence, and school ALWAYS comes first. We will never force you to do something that you can’t because you have a class or a huge test to study for the next day.
How will it affect my social life?
When you join a sorority, you not only get a loving family of sisters, you get the entire greek family of SUNY Delhi. Delhi’s greeks are all very connected, and we do many events with other organizations to promote social interaction and making new friends. If you decide to rush, you will meet more new friends in such a short period of time than you probably ever have in your life. Having sisters is amazing. You always will have a shoulder to cry on, a friend to laugh with, or someone to just go to the Expressmart with at 3AM. You will never be alone in Zeta Delta Tau.
Who do I contact if I want to rush?
You can contact either our New Member Educator, Katherine (more information here on the contact Page), or, you could contact any of our awesome sisters.
